Aimee Brown Author Interview!!

Hey Guys!!

I am so lucky to have Debut Author Aimee Brown with me today, on the day of the release of her new book Little Gray Dress!! Welcome Aimee!!!

Aimee Brown

I’m so glad to have you here!!

So, tell me, where did you get the inspiration for this book?

I’m actually more of a just sit down and write to see where it takes me kind of girl. I’ve started and trashed at least a hundred manuscripts that didn’t progress. This one I somehow made it through the first draft and from there I could plan things out to make it what it is today.

Obviously, I love weddings so it was no surprise to see the book filled with weddings. 😊

That’s awesome! I would love to day that I’ve trashed manuscripts. I think I’ve more trashed pages… I am a fan of weddings, as well. They are always so much fun, when they’re other peoples’ stress!

How did you begin your writing career? Did you always know that you wanted to write?

I started writing years ago and started college to get my Bachelor’s Degree in English Lit/Creative Writing in 2008. I wasn’t one hundred percent sure that I had what it took to actually be an author until I enrolled in my first creative writing class. The instructor had nothing but praise with each story I wrote so that was reassuring to say the least.

Since then, I’ve been attempting to write ‘the one’ that would end up being my debut novel. I now feel like maybe I could have finally found my lifelong dream career.

I would definitely say that you have found your calling, based on this book! Who are your favorite authors?

So many! The ones who inspire me to write are Sophie Kinsella, Meg Cabot, Emily Giffin, Janet Evanovich (parts of her), and Candace Bushnell. They are such inspirations for the rom/com-chick lit genre.

I have so many indie authors that I adore as well that I’d hate to list them all and forget someone.

I love Janet Evanovich! Well, most of her series, anyway. I am a huge advocate of Indies! Some of my favorite authors are, or started out as, Indie authors.

So, do you have a favorite book or series that you could just read over and over again?

Meg Cabot’s Size 12 is not Fat is one of my fav series. It’s more cozy mystery than chick lit but I just love how she wrote her main character Heather Wells. She’s such a likeable character to spend time with.

I haven’t read that one. I’ll have to look it up! What are you reading right now?

Ugh, I’ve been SO busy that I’ve not read much lately. I have quite a few waiting for my attention on my kindle, Meredith Schorr, Kate O’Keeffe and Amy Poeppel are all awaiting me.

I hear you! I’ve been a bit slow in my reading and blogging lately. Life just gets in the way of fun! Speaking of fun, what do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I don’t get a lot of free time with a husband, three kids, three dogs, three cats, a tank full of fish and a small business. But, when I do I love reading, decorating, and redecorating my house, thrift shopping, Netflix and spending time with my family.

You have a small farm! Haha! Do you have any upcoming projects that we should be on the lookout for?

I’m working on a couple of things yes. Right now, I’m pushing to finish a stand-alone novel that centers around one of the main character in Little Gray Dress (who is it?!). It seems everyone needs this particular character to have a happy ending!!

I bet I know who that is, and I can’t wait!!! Thanks for stopping by to spend some time with me, Aimee!! Happy Release Day!!!

About the Author

Aimee Brown

Aimee Brown – author bio:

Aimee Brown is a writer and an avid reader. Little Gray Dress is her first published novel. My second novel is in the works now. She’s currently studying for her Bachelor’s degree in English Writing. She spends much of her time writing, doing homework, raising three teenagers, binge watching shows on Netflix and obsessively cleaning and redecorating her house. She’s fluent in sarcasm and has been known to utter profanities like she’s competing for a medal.

Aimee grew up in Oregon but is now a transplant living in cold Montana with her husband of twenty years, three teenage children, and far too many pets.

She would love to hear your thoughts on Little Gray Dress! If you’d like to chat with her she’s very active on social media. You can find her at any of the networks below. Stop by and say hello!

Magic and Mayhem: Secrets, Lies, and Meatballs (Spaghetti Romances, Book 2)

Secrets lies and meatballs cover

Author: Jordan K. Rose

Series: Spaghetti Romances

Genre: PNR

According to her grandmother and her parents, The Meatball knows who Lena is supposed to marry, but Lena isn’t buying it. She has no interest in eating a meatball that has been simmering in what is, admittedly, delectable smelling gravy for thirty-three years! Especially is said meatball is supposed to make her fall in love with someone against her will. The issue: Someone stole her mate-ball, and ate it. Now she, and her magic, are going nuts. To make matters worse, family secrets have some to light that are seriously complicating matters for her. Is she willing to bend to the will of fate, and eat the meatball, to save those that she loves?

This is the second novella in the Spaghetti Romances series, which is a part of Magic and Mayhem Kindle Worlds. These novellas have been a great new series. They are laugh out loud funny, along with a great story. The characters are all great, and well developed, especially for the limited space to develop them in a novella. They all have their own quirky personalities, which allows the reader to identify with them and visualize them easily. The world building is well done, without any obvious holes. The story is well paced, so it doesn’t take too long to read it, but if you need to put it down it would be easy to pick back up where you left off. If you’re looking for a fun escape, try out this world of witches and shifters!

It’s out today, so check it out!

Knights of Stone: Calum Release!!

The Gargoyle Shifters are back, people, and this time Lisa Carlisle brought us Pegasi!!!

When a short-term mission turns into a battle between love and duty…
Calum lives for thrills both on and off stage as lead singer of the Knights of Stone. During a night flight, he witnesses a dragon chasing a pegasus and his gargoyle instincts kick in. When the rescued pegasus turns out to be a beautiful shifter named Arielle, he sets off on a dangerous mission to help her.
Arielle never should have wandered from her pegasi herd. Not only did she attract the attention of a dragon who wants to steal her magic, but they’ve ended up lost in another realm. If she even makes it through the night, how will she ever return home?
Calum and Arielle’s chance encounter in the Scottish Highlands turns into something more. Can Calum help Arielle return to her realm, when he wants to convince her to stay?
For a hot Highland shifter series set on a mystical isle shared by gargoyles, tree witches, and wolf shifters, meet the brothers in the Knights of Stone today!

Excerpt

Calum needed to fly, to escape the claustrophobic confines of the pub in Inverness. Only flight could provide relief from the stuffiness closing in around him. The stale stench of beer and perspiration tingled his nostrils. The din of voices around him reverberated in his head. The Knights of Stone, the band he and his brothers had created, had played until midnight. Although the lassies surrounded him after their set, as they often did, he avoided their attention to head for the exit.
“You’re not leaving again, are you?” his older brother, Gavin, asked.
“I need air.”
“It’s the third time in a fortnight. Something’s definitely off with you lately.”

Maybe Gavin was right. Calum’s usual restlessness had shifted recently. Instead of chasing the lasses after the rush onstage as front man of their band, he’d been escaping to the wide-open space of the night skies.
He searched the shadowy area behind the brick building for a hidden spot where he could shift to his winged form. Humans were out this evening, but none were attracted to the dark alley.

Calum cloaked himself before shifting. He flew away from the club up toward the crescent moon, which was clouded by a swirl of mist. Nothing like soaring through the night to invigorate him. Flight calmed him, as it did for most gargoyles. While he spent much of the day restoring his energy in stone form under the sun, at night he came alive. He’d then pursue one of his three favorite activities — flying, performing, or—entertaining. He smirked. He and Gavin relished the female attention, especially after their three brothers had found mates. Since their brothers had placed bets on who’d be next to find a mate, both Calum and Gavin pushed to the extreme to avoid it.

Although Calum still burned from the rush on stage, something was missing. He had everything he thought he’d wanted with the band and living with his brothers in their small clan on the Isle of Stone, yet he sought solitude in flight more often.
Why he did plagued his mind as he sought the clarity during the flight. A short break had turned into a longer flight, full of introspection. Calum soared farther than he’d planned, along Loch Ness and then inland. The shadowed mountain peaks ahead framed a foreboding entryway under the lingering fog that clouded the night.
He paused, hovering in the air. His gargoyle instincts flared. Something was off. He engaged all his senses, listening for a sign of distress, anything to identify the source of his unease. He flew deeper inland, the rolling fields darker than emeralds under the stars, and the disturbing sensation heightened.

Some memories are better left forgotten…

Haunted by an unclear past, biologically enhanced Marine, Eva Montreaux, can’t be distracted from her mission. With American troops being brutally murdered on the island of Okinawa, it’s more than priority. It’s critical. But when her investigation brings her face to face Marcos Delacruz, it triggers memories. Ones she lost. Memories that somehow include him.

In truth, she seems to barely recognize him. This deployment has been challenging enough with too many restless spirits haunting the island. But when his own investigation forces him to cross paths with her once more, Marcos discovers there may be a deeper truth.

Excerpt:

“Max,” she warned. Her stomach growled and she giggled. “We need food. I’m not great in the kitchen but I can help.”

“You can sit on the counter naked and be my inspiration.” He kissed the tip of her perky nose and climbed out of bed, rummaging through his drawers for a pair of shorts and a clean shirt.

“That doesn’t sound very sanitary.”

“Sounds freaking sexy to me.” He winked at her from the doorway and headed to the kitchen with a shit-eating grin on his face.
