Scorch Release!!!

Hey everyone!!

Guess what: Book 10 in the Underground Encounters series by Lisa Carlisle is out!!!

Are you ready??!!

After I escape hunters and arrive in good Ol’ Witch City, Salem, Massachusetts, I head to a gothic club to feed. But, the dumb-as-rock gargoyle bouncers kick me out. They’ve confused my scent with another demon’s.

But, I thought I was the last of my kind.

Not good. We can’t both hunt in the same territory, especially with his dangerous cavalier style. I track the incubus, but when I find him, Daron’s irresistibly devilish nature makes me rethink my plan. For just one night…

Will he want to play? Or consider me prey?

One night. One encounter. It won’t change anything, right?

Only it does, and it’s catastrophic. We’ve accidentally bonded.

Which means I crave him. Only him. And all the time. A sucky curse for a succubus.

How can we undo the damage without succumbing to the call–or worse, starving?

SCORCHED is a standalone enemies to lovers romance in Lisa Carlisle’s Underground Encounters series. Misunderstood heroes, forbidden romance, and fated mates await you!

Gargoyle shifter Lucan finds out the hard way that one should never cross a witch! When Lucan has what he believes to be a fling with a witch, she turns vengeful and locks not only him but his two brothers in to their stone forms and turns their memories cloudy. How will the brothers handle this curse?

This is a prequel novella to the Underground Encounters series, which I know that you have have seen me rave about. These characters and the world has already been incredible well developed, so I loved that we got to see how the story of these brothers being under this curse began. We get to see the reason that they were paced under this curse and how they came to be in the state in which we find them in their individual stories. This, like the others, was incredibly well written and moves along at a great pace. It’s, of course, a quick read as it is a novella. If you’re a fan of these stories, or shifters in general, pick this up!

Mattias is one of the three gargoyle brothers that were cursed to stay in stone form and stand guard at Vamps, the underground night club where all of the supernatural beings hang out. His brothers have found their mates and settled down, but Mattias has other plans; to travel and see the world. That is until she walks in…

Rachel had an unfortunate run in with a werewolf, and now feels that she is cursed. She has come to Vamps to meet with the witch that brews her an elixir to control her monthly urges. While at the bar she meets Mattias and decides that she may as well inject some fun in to her lonely existence. It was only supposed to be a fling…

They both have secrets that they are hiding. Neither one is looking for a long term relationship. Will they put all of this aside to see where this goes?

Welcome back to Vamps, everyone!! I’m so happy to be back in the Underground Encounters world! I love this series. These books are always a great escape, and this one was no exception. These two characters (two of my favorite supes- gargoyles and weres?! All I needed was a dragon!) were just as fleshed out and well rounded as the characters that came before them. I have come to expect this in Carlisle’s writing, and I was not disappointed. The world building was mostly complete by this point in the series, but it is still great. I love that we get to see and check in on some main characters from the previous books as secondary characters in this one, and see how their stories are progressing. One of my favorite couples from a previous book had a really fun update! This book gave me a little more of a slow burn feel than the previous books in the series, but it was just what these characters needed. Overall, this is another Carlisle PNR success! This book is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. (I, personally, recommend them all!)

This is out now! Go, read, enjoy!

During the fire at Vamps, Nike was bitten by a vampire. In a fit of bloodlust, she did something that she is unable to forgive herself for. The love of her life, Michel, travelled to Europe in search of a cure for her to no avail. Growing weary of walking between two worlds, she must make a decision that will change the rest of her life. Meanwhile, her best friend Maya is preparing for the rest of her life, as well. She is planning her wedding, and desperately wants Nike to be her maid of honor. Nike, however, is cutting herself off from everyone (Maya included) after her act of bloodlust, and won’t return her calls. At the same time, Maya has decided to find out more about where she comes from and asks her adoptive parents for more information about her birth parents. She is shocked by what she finds when she goes seeking more information.

I was absolutely left with questions after Nike and Maya’s first books, and I am so happy to have this follow up to get some answers!! This new installment, in my opinion, has more twists than previous books and I loved it! Nike and Maya were two of my favorites in this series, so another book with them was right up my alley. Their characters were able to become more complex through this book, and I feel like Carlisle did a wonderful job of giving them even more depth. Where most of the books in this series can be read as standalones, I highly recommend that you read Smolder and Fire first so that you get the background on Nike and Maya. Go, read, enjoy!!!

Tracy tends bar at Vamps to pay her way through school. She has had her share of problems- an abusive ex, family problems, etc- and she finds comfort in sharing her turmoil with the status of the gargoyle that hangs out at the bar. She doesn’t know why, maybe she’s losing it, but there’s no harm done. One night, as she’s closing down the bar for the night, aforementioned ex shows up, drunk and looking to either hook up or fight. Just as Tracy is figuring out the best way to defend herself, her statue and confidante comes to life before her eyes and takes care of the problem for her. He believes that they are fated to be together, and he has twenty-four hours to prove it to her or he will turn to stone again. Will he be able to convince her, or will he remain under his curse?

Thanks to this lovely author, I have really come to love gargoyle shifters, and Danton is no exception. He’s hot, strong, and sweet- what more could you ask for? This story is written along the lines of the other Underground Encounters stories, which is excellent! The characters were well developed, as always. The world building just continued to grow from the previous books. The story was well rounded enough, even for a short novella, that it would be no problem to grab it and enjoy without having read the previous books (although you should, if you like PNR!). If you’re looking for a quick, fun, PNR, pick this one up!

Layla is on the run from a Master Vampire. She has fled from London, and arrived in Boston to become Angelica, the singer in an 80’s cover band. Devon is the shapeshifting bounty hunter who is after her. He hates vamps, so there is no issue with him hunting her down…until he meets her. With more vampires on their trail, will this end well for them?

This is the fourth installment in Carlisle’s Underground Encounters series, but each one can be read as a standalone. This, as all her work thus far has been, was an incredible enjoyable read! The characters were well fleshed out, and fun to hang out with. The plot line was a very interesting and fun one. What I think that I love most of all about this author’s work, though, is her world building. It is always very rich and well imagined. I can almost always picture, with great detail, the environment that she is describing. If you are a PNR fan, this is a series (and author!) that you shouldn’t miss!

Nike spends her days in a fast paced, high stress profession: she’s a firefighter. She likes to spend her nights, along with her best & fellow firefighter Maya, unwinding at an underground goth club called Vamps. This is all well and good, until one night when her fantasy crush, Michel, the hot guy from her climbing gym shows up. Little does she know that he has a deeper and darker connection to the underground world than Nike ever dreamed could exist. When her fantasy worlds and real life collide, what choice will she make? Will it be the right one?

Smolder kicks off, what is set to be, a new trilogy from Carlisle. If this novella is an indication of what is to come, it looks to be a great addition to her publications. The one thing that I have enjoyed the most in Carlisle’s writing is that she has the ability to give great depth to each of her characters, and she certainly did not waver on that in this novella. All of the characters were very well fleshed out, but there is still plenty of room for character development in future installments. The world building was wonderful (I kind of want to go unwind at Vamps this weekend, myself!), as always. If you enjoy a great PNR, and are looking for a fun new series, I would recommend this to you!

P.S. Book 2, Fire, has been released, and I have it in my hot little hands to read this weekend, so review to come! Here is the cover and the link, if you get through Smolder & want to continue on!
