Shana and the Vampire (Short Seductions, Book1)

Shanna and the Vampire

Author: Jordan K. Rose

Series: Short Seductions

Publisher: Jordan K. Rose

Genre: PNR

Pages: 35

This is the first in a new series of novellas by Jordan K. Rose. As I’m sure you can tell by now, she is at the top of my list of favorite authors, and this just makes me love her even more! In this series of novellas, Jordan has stretched herself beyond what she normally writes. It is definitely still PNR, but it is much, much hotter than her previous body of work.

This first story is the story of Shana and Max. Shana is a bit of a naïve young girl who begins working in Max’s underground bar, Seductions, where she is the only human on staff. Max is an extremely hot, seductive Vampire who marked Shana in order to protect her from the rest of the Others. They definitely have chemistry, but will it go beyond that? Well, I guess you’ll have to read it to find out! It is a very quick read, but it is full of the incredible writing that goes in to all of Jordan’s work. I highly recommend this, and can’t wait to read what comes next in this series!

Blog Issues

Hello!

Over the next few days, there will be several blogs posted, and they may be a bit out of order. I am moving posts over from my previous blog, thanks to issues that I have had with the host. Please, hang in there, and hopefully this one will be in order soon!

Jenna and the Telepath (Short Seductions, Book 4)

Jenna and the Telepath

Author: Jordan K. Rose

Series: Short Seductions

Publisher: Jordan K. Rose

Genre: PNR

Pages: 36

I have never really considered telepaths to be sexy before, but damn, did Jordan write a hot one! This novella is the story of Jenna, and accountant, and Kolton, a rich, hot lawyer who just so happens to be a telepath. Jenna thinks that she is nothing but a fling to Kolton, that she is too plain for him to want any type of a real relationship with her. Kolton does not agree with her assessment, and is determined to convince her otherwise. One of the things that I loved most about this novella, aside from the obvious, was the dialogue between the two. It was very interesting to see what happens when one person can “hear” all of the thoughts of the other, and the dynamic that arises from that. So, does Kolton convince her that there is more to their relationship than the hot sex, or will theirs be only a relationship of the libido? Pick it up and find out!!

The Fire Sermon (The Fire Sermon Trilogy, 1)

Author: Francesca Haig

Series: The Fire Sermon

Publisher: Gallery Books

Genre: Dystopian

Pages: 369

I am in love with this book! It is a completely different take on the post-apocalyptic/dystopian themed books. The concept is really, very interesting. After an event that basically wiped everything and many people out, everything was changed, due to after-effects of radiation and such. One of the biggest areas of change was in reproduction. In this new era, every pregnancy results in twins, and one of the twins always has some sort of deficiency. Most of these are physical (a missing or third arm or leg, a third eye or only one eye, etc), but some are born “seers”. They can sense or have visions of things from the future or past. They are called Omegas, while the perfectly fine twin is the Alpha twin. The Omega twins are always sent away to villages for Omegas, where they suffer for the majority of their lives, but are not killed, because when one twin dies, so does the other.

The main character in this novel is an Omega, Cass, who is a seer. Her twin, Zach, was very angry at her, because she hid her ability for a very long time, which led them to be outcast, because no one knew which twin was the Omega. Once Cass was sent away, Zach became very ambitious and quickly rose to power. He becomes known as The Reformer, and has teamed up with an Omega seer to bring out horrible changes in the way that Omegas are treated. He has Cass found and locked up in order to protect himself. Cass finds out about the horrible things that he is doing, and finds out about an Omega island, and breaks free. She teams up with a boy with no memory of his past, who she calls Kip, in order to try and find the island. This story is centered on their journey and the ensuing Omega Resistance. It has some amazing twists and turns that will keep the reader on their seat. I can’t wait for the next novel in this series!
