Aimee Brown Author Interview!!

Hey Guys!!

I am so lucky to have Debut Author Aimee Brown with me today, on the day of the release of her new book Little Gray Dress!! Welcome Aimee!!!

Aimee Brown

I’m so glad to have you here!!

So, tell me, where did you get the inspiration for this book?

I’m actually more of a just sit down and write to see where it takes me kind of girl. I’ve started and trashed at least a hundred manuscripts that didn’t progress. This one I somehow made it through the first draft and from there I could plan things out to make it what it is today.

Obviously, I love weddings so it was no surprise to see the book filled with weddings. 😊

That’s awesome! I would love to day that I’ve trashed manuscripts. I think I’ve more trashed pages… I am a fan of weddings, as well. They are always so much fun, when they’re other peoples’ stress!

How did you begin your writing career? Did you always know that you wanted to write?

I started writing years ago and started college to get my Bachelor’s Degree in English Lit/Creative Writing in 2008. I wasn’t one hundred percent sure that I had what it took to actually be an author until I enrolled in my first creative writing class. The instructor had nothing but praise with each story I wrote so that was reassuring to say the least.

Since then, I’ve been attempting to write ‘the one’ that would end up being my debut novel. I now feel like maybe I could have finally found my lifelong dream career.

I would definitely say that you have found your calling, based on this book! Who are your favorite authors?

So many! The ones who inspire me to write are Sophie Kinsella, Meg Cabot, Emily Giffin, Janet Evanovich (parts of her), and Candace Bushnell. They are such inspirations for the rom/com-chick lit genre.

I have so many indie authors that I adore as well that I’d hate to list them all and forget someone.

I love Janet Evanovich! Well, most of her series, anyway. I am a huge advocate of Indies! Some of my favorite authors are, or started out as, Indie authors.

So, do you have a favorite book or series that you could just read over and over again?

Meg Cabot’s Size 12 is not Fat is one of my fav series. It’s more cozy mystery than chick lit but I just love how she wrote her main character Heather Wells. She’s such a likeable character to spend time with.

I haven’t read that one. I’ll have to look it up! What are you reading right now?

Ugh, I’ve been SO busy that I’ve not read much lately. I have quite a few waiting for my attention on my kindle, Meredith Schorr, Kate O’Keeffe and Amy Poeppel are all awaiting me.

I hear you! I’ve been a bit slow in my reading and blogging lately. Life just gets in the way of fun! Speaking of fun, what do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I don’t get a lot of free time with a husband, three kids, three dogs, three cats, a tank full of fish and a small business. But, when I do I love reading, decorating, and redecorating my house, thrift shopping, Netflix and spending time with my family.

You have a small farm! Haha! Do you have any upcoming projects that we should be on the lookout for?

I’m working on a couple of things yes. Right now, I’m pushing to finish a stand-alone novel that centers around one of the main character in Little Gray Dress (who is it?!). It seems everyone needs this particular character to have a happy ending!!

I bet I know who that is, and I can’t wait!!! Thanks for stopping by to spend some time with me, Aimee!! Happy Release Day!!!
